“Dr Kumar and his staff are amazing. He is a kind and compassionate Dr that has a true love for helping others achieve their goals of becoming parents. We have 2 beautiful children that were created at this facility. I went through a rough road to get pregnant and the support from Dr Kumar and his staff was invaluable. Thank you for giving me my most precious gifts in life, my twins. I originally started with a fertility Dr in Beverly hills at a very prestigious hospital and after a discouraging cycle there with no compassion from the Dr, a girlfriend referred me to Dr Kumar I never looked back. He is hands down the best in all aspects, he shoots it to you straight but also has the compassion you need when dealing with this delicate issue.” – Marie B.
“I have been a patient of Dr. Kumar’s for a while now. He and his staff are amazing and always so nice. Not only is Dr. Kumar an excellent dr but also a kind and caring person. He is always making sure that his patients are happy and comfortable. I am a repeat surrogate with WFI and would never go anywhere else. Dr. Kumar and Arlene have helped me every step of the way and have made me feel so welcomed and comfortable. They always remember things I tell them about myself and my family and frequently ask how everyone is doing. I absolutely adore Dr Kumar, Arlene and everyone at WFI.” – Jesse Bethany G.

V.
“Without Dr. Kumar and his team, I would not have my little miracle! Such an experienced, cohesive group that are all efficient, and truly provide passionate, supportive care. “Dr. Kumar & his staff are the absolute best! From the start he sits down with you & explains the whole process & answers any questions you may have. They make you feel at ease every step of the way. If I had any questions, concerns or emergencies I was able to call/text the Doctor or his nurse directly which made the process a lot less stressful. Dr. Kumar truly cares about his patients & we felt that way from the start. He told us “you will get pregnant” & I remember thinking wow he’s pretty confident…well I’m happy to say he was right, we were blessed with twins on our first & only transfer. I’ve referred several others to him since & they have had the same experience. One of our friends that had been trying for over 15 years just had twins as well. Our last visit I actually got emotional bc I felt such a bond with him & his staff. Thank you Dr. Kumar for giving us the most beautiful blessing, Family. Lots of love from the Galvez Family of four in honor of infertility week please know with the right doctor & staff it’s possible.” – Allie M.
“There is nothing that I could write in any Yelp review that could adequately express the genius and gentle nature of Dr. Kumar. He is just simply a ray of light in the dark pit of infertility. He gave us our precious son, but before that he gave us so much more. He helped us to accept each stage of our story and to face it with courage. Kindness and professionalism stand out in his staff because it emanates from him. I had been to two other clinics before seeing Dr. Kumar and I can tell you from these experiences that fertility clinics are NOT all the same. Please, please, please take my advice and see Dr. Kumar. If you are looking to yelp to get your fertility clinic advice then please take my review as a sign that you have found the right place. Drive as far as you need to and wait in lobby as long a you need to make him your Doctor. (p.s. I never waited more than 15 min for any appointment).” – Gabrielle W.
“It’s clear that you are passionate and gifted at what you do and we are so grateful for everything! Thank you so much for your patience, guidance and calm demeanor. I especially appreciate how understanding and empathetic you were in your approach to my dealing with pregnancy after loss. You really went above and beyond, and it’s hard to put into words how much we appreciate you and your incredible staff. Thank you so much. You really are amazing!” – T. N.
“We truly appreciate everything you have done for us. The time you and your staff took to help guide us through the entire process really did make it a lot easier. We really felt like we were being taken care of, you and your staff treated us like family. Please know that the long hours, the answering of many questions and hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed or unappreciated. You are all doing amazing things! We will forever be grateful to each of you, you helped make our dreams come true.” – S. J.
What is Sex Selection?
It is common for many patients to be curious about the ability to choose the sex of their baby. This is known as Sex Selection (also commonly referred to as Gender Selection). Through genetic testing, this is possible for our patients undergoing IVF at Western Fertility Institute. A By-product of the genetic testing performed on the embryos called PGT-A allows for differentiation between male and female embryos since the sex of each embryo is identifiable by their chromosomes.
How does Sex Selection Work?
Sex selection through Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy (PGT_A) testing allows patients to select the sex of their embryos with almost 100% accuracy. Our highly skilled embryologists will biopsy a single cell from the embryo and send it to a third-party laboratory for PGT-A testing. The PGT-A results will show if each embryo has the proper number of chromosomes as well as the prospective of sex. Embryos containing two X chromosomes are female, while male embryos will contain one X and one Y chromosome. This allows the patient to choose a PGT-A embryo of a desired sex for transfer.
Why Do People Use Sex Selection?
Patients choose to use sex selection as an option for multiple reasons. In some cases, it can be used for medical reasons. Sex selection allows for the prevention of sex-linked genetic diseases and chromosomal disorders. For instance, there are certain disorders, linked to the X or Y chromosomes, that have the potential to be passed on to only a son or only a daughter. In other cases, sex selection can be used for what is known as "family balancing". Family balancing is when the patient chooses a specific sex in order to fulfill their desire of a balanced family. This can include choosing a sex based on a previously lost child, because they feel better equipped to raise a specific sex, or they want representation of both sexes in their family.
